Planning the Christmas party is a dirty job, but everyone accepts that someone has to do it. But what if that someone is you? Where do you start? How do you go about choosing Christmas party venues that suit your needs? Here are a few things to bear in mind when planning a festive Christmas party, and a few tips for taking some of the stress out of the organisation.
The first decision to be made is what sort of Christmas party you are looking to have. This will depend on a number of factors such as budget, the number of people that you expect to invite along, and any entertainment that you may be considering. Some companies like to have formal parties to which clients and other contacts are involved; others may prefer that their Christmas party is more relaxed, an opportunity for everyone to let their hair down. This will inform your choice of Christmas party venues and give you some guidelines on what you’re looking for.

Another early decision will be on the number of people to be invited along, as this obviously affects your choice of Christmas party venues. If your company is a small one with just a dozen or so people to accommodate, you’ll find a lot of local venues that suit your needs. If, on the other hand, you have a guest list that runs into the hundreds (as some large companies do), your options are immediately that bit more limited. This is a decision that it pays to make early. It is also important to establish what budget there is for your Christmas party; a £250 hire charge for use of a venue may be negligible to some companies, but a bit steep for others.

The next major decision to be made when looking at Christmas party venues is catering and drinks. If you’re planning to run a pay bar, then obviously your chosen venue will need to be licensed. If you want a formal sit-down meal or a buffet, you may need to check whether the Christmas party venue has its own catering, or whether you can enlist the services of caterers. Many Christmas parties may only have quite basic cold buffets, but this still needs to be agreed, organised, and paid for. Similarly, if you are expecting a large number of people, you’ll need serving staff for dispensing drinks, and this needs to be factored into the cost of the party.

Finally, you’ll want to consider any other requirements. For example, if you want entertainment such as music, you’ll need to check with the venue that they are equipped to deal with parties of this type, and book your chosen performers well in advance, as Christmas is a very busy time and the Christmas party is a staple of many musicians’ income.
Having made the big decisions on the size and type of Christmas party you want, the budget available, and the type of catering and entertainment involved, you can now start looking for a suitable venue. This can seem a daunting task, but it needn’t be. Bear in mind your key requirements, and make them clear to the venue in your first email or telephone call – this will save everyone a lot of time and effort. If a venue is fully booked, or otherwise unable to cater for your needs, ask them if they can recommend anywhere else in the area that would be suitable – once they’ve established that they can’t help you, they should be more willing to point you in the direction of the competition!

This is one of the times when a specialist venue finding service can help. Rather than opening the phone book or emailing round canvassing for suggestions, a venue finding agency gives you certain advantages – with a list of suitable locations in your chosen area, it can save a lot of time and effort by suggesting the sorts of Christmas party venues that may be able to cater to your needs.
In addition, a venue finding team will be able to recommend interesting and unusual venues that you wouldn’t have thought of yourself – a sporting venue, for example, that allows you to combine your office party with a day at the races, for example, or an out-of-town venue that offers activities such as paintballing or quad biking. This isn’t for everyone, of course – but by giving you the option, you have a wider range of choices.

Finally, a venue finding agency takes a lot of the stress out of dealing with your chosen Christmas party venue, because all the haggling over price, as well as details over catering and logistics are for them to worry about; you are left only with the important stuff; i. e. , making sure your partygoers have a Christmas party to remember. Now that’s the hard part. . .

With only eight days to go until one of the most anticipated (and stressful for some) day of the year, it’s more important than ever to make sure you’re organized and on the ball. With crazy work schedules and a multitude of other tasks at home to juggle, there is even less time to prepare for the holiday season this year. If you have not begun your Christmas preparations yet, now is the time to begin. With proper activity planning and organizing, there is still enough time left to pull off a great holiday celebration. Here’s a countdown and check list to make sure everything gets done this Christmas, as well as some last minute ideas of things to do.

Day 8 – Haven’t sent holiday cards yet? You still have time if you get to it today. First, make a list of friends, relatives, colleagues and others to gauge the number of cards and stamps you need. At this point, you may also want to consider sending an electronic card or a personal email since time is of the essence.

Day 7 – If you are hosting people for Christmas lunch or dinner, make sure you send the invites out today. You can use online sites to send invitations and track RSVPs. You’ll also find some handy hosting and decorating tips at some sites, and tools to coordinate a potluck.

Day 6 – If you haven’t started decorating your house for Christmas yet, it’s time you start today. Bring down those boxes from the attic and decorate your Christmas tree with lights and ornaments. If you want to show your Christmas spirit outside your home, a wreath on the door is an easy idea, or consider putting a festive bow or lights on a tree in your front yard.

Day 5 – If your fridge resembles a museum with leftovers from days gone by, then it’s time to clean it out and take stock of what you have and what you need to buy for your Christmas meals. Hit the grocery store early in the morning to avoid lines, and so you can do some last minute gift buying for people on your list in the afternoon or evening.

Day 4 – This is the gift shopping day. Since you have the list of gifts; gift shopping will be relatively easy. Don’t be over ambitious and try to finish shopping for everyone today. If you have been scanning the newspapers, websites and outdoor advertisements on best deals and discounts; shopping will be easier.

Day 3- Wrap the gifts. You’ll have too much food-prep and cooking to do later, so get this out of the way now. Most people underestimate how much time it will take to wrap presents, so make sure you budget a few hours to do this. Time saver: pay a younger sibling, niece or nephew, or neighbor to wrap the gifts for you.

Day 2 –Time to start baking. If you are throwing a party or planning to gift cakes and cookies, it’s better if you start today. You’ll get ample time to try and test recipes, find replacements and do some re-cooking if necessary. You’ll also want to make another trip to the grocery store today and pick up any final items.

Day 1 – Food prep today will help make things run smoothly tomorrow. Make things like marinades, and sauces in advance, as well as side dishes that can sit overnight (this will also make them more flavorful). Chop up herbs and vegetables and refrigerate them so they’re good to go.

Day 0 – Hey, it’s Christmas day! We wish you a merry Christmas and hope these tips really helped you. See you next year.

With Christmas around the corner and the economy still in a recession, a lot of us are worried about our tight pockets. While we would all love to buy the perfect gift for our family and friends, we often over indulge in shopping. It’s difficult to track exactly how much you spend once you are in a crowded shopping mall, searching for a long list of presents. Its best practice to set a few ground rules for your shopping experience, before you even leave the house. Creating a budget for all the gifts you need can help you plan your trip better, as well as manage your finances better. First things first – setting your budget is a critical step. Decide on how much you can spend this Christmas. Logically look at all your finances and decide on the total amount you’d like to spend for presents this year. Also, remember to include outside factors that can shape your budget.
Many people get holiday bonuses, if that’s the case; make sure you factor that into your spending. Also, keep in mind some of the other expensive you’ll have to endure during the season, like traveling and decorating expenses. Over spending in one place can hurt your budget for another. Once you’ve got a good estimate of the total amount you can spend on gifts, designate individual amounts for each of the recipients. Don’t aim at assigning an exact figure, a range can work too. Make sure you leave room for contingencies, more often than not; you will either find something cheaper than you thought or something just a tad bit more expensive. Give yourself some leeway, but also make sure you can stay within your total budget.
Using a credit card to shop usually leads to overspending. We often spend more than we decide just because we have the ability to do so. Hence, it is important to set a cap on the amount you spend. Getting a prepaid card is a really good option. It’s relatively simple to open an account and what’s more, you don’t need any credit history. Withdrawing cash is another alternative, but, like using a credit card, it’s easy to over spend and harder to keep track of purchases. You can easily set up a prepaid debit card with the exact amount you’ve budgeted for your shopping trips, ensuring that you won’t over spend.
Before you go shopping, do your research. Go online and check the prices of gifts you want to buy. Look up the mall you are going to visit and its featured stores. Almost all stores have their Christmas prices out in advance. This will help you get the best bargain, and make your budget go further. Finally, enjoy your shopping without the tension of overspending. You will be surprised how relieved you feel by knowing that you are in control of your finances. You should be enjoying time spent with your family, and not thinking about how you are going to pay back all the debt you’ve accumulated over the holiday season.

Michael is currently a 4th year accounting student at the University of Texas at Austin. He is particularly interested in business finance and debt. Additionally, he is writing his thesis on prepaid” target=”_blank”>www. netspend. com/”>prepaid debit cards and prepaid credit cards for teens, distinguishing how young people learn the importance of handling their money only by hands on experience.

Lets face it, your company Christmas party is one of the most important nights of the year for your team, so it’s vital to choose the right corporate Christmas party venue, get the venue and location right and your company will be sending out a positive message to it’s team – get it wrong and the message you send out will have a negative effect and you may as well have not bothered!
So what do you need to take into consideration when you are selecting the right corporate Christmas party venue? Think about your team, your guests and think what they will enjoy – the last thing you want to do is to be known for hosting a party that David Brent from The Office would be proud of! Do your research and get it right.

Have a realistic comprehension of what your budget can buy you. When you go out for a three course meal, what do you normally pay? Then take this, add in an amount for entertainment, perhaps some drinks and then you start getting an idea of a realistic budget.

Talk to a company that specialises in sourcing corporate Christmas party venues, they will have a very clear idea of what your budget can get you. Do you want a Christmas party exclusively for your company? If you do you’ll need private dining and entertainment and will have to budget accordingly.
Do you want the thrills of a huge themed party night with entertainment but know you don’t have the budget for that? If you don’t mind sharing with other companies, then you could attend one of the many spectacular cost effective shared Christmas party nights that are hosted around the country.
If you are having a private party think about how you are going to entertain your guests. Entertainment is a great ice breaker and can turn an average Christmas meal into a great memorable Christmas party, so look into the different options that your budget can afford. Talk to a company that specialises in corporate entertainment and they will give you a whole host of exciting options for you to consider!

Think about dates very carefully. You will never get all of your team attending at Christmas, it’s a sad fact of business that people have social lives and sometimes can’t attend (another reason for booking your company Christmas party early!). Talk to your key team members and look at the dates that they can all make, it’s not going to send out a positive image if your top person can’t make the party, it’s virtually a green light for next years excuses!

One of the biggest pieces of advice that we can give you is that if you want a corporate Christmas party venue that is good or if you want a peak date, a Thursday or Friday in December, then book early and we mean very early! Some party venues sell their peak dates in January, so you have to do some very forward planning here!

It’s not always easy to get your company Christmas party right, it does take a good deal of work but if you team up with an experienced corporate entertainment company, they will guide you through all of your different options and lighten your work load!

Christmas is a time of giving, but for many it is a time of budgeting. Budgeting can be a rather nasty thing around the holiday, especially when you consider the shape that the world economy happens to be in right now. But with the right money management, and a few good choices in location, shopping at Christmas time can be a breeze. The best thing that you can do is shop online. You’ve probably heard all sorts of warnings about shopping online. Mostly it has to do with giving out your charge card information, but rest assured that if you shop at the right places, your information will be kept safe and secure whilst you are free to enjoy the benefits that Internet commerce offers. After all, online establishments that take credit information must go through rigorous testing and are constantly under scrutiny-as it should be.

When you are choosing a place to shop online you’ve got an almost unlimited selection. From small specialist stores to major international businesses such as Amazon, Play and eBay, the Internet is a crowded marketplace full of opportunities for a bargain. When you need to get something particular, that perhaps isn’t going to be available in most multi-purpose stores, you’ll not be short of companies willing to provide you with exactly what you want. This is one of the main beauties of shopping online. Shopping online has another major advantage to offer those who would brave it, and this advantage is the huge competition that online retailers face. Think about it carefully. If a store is selling a product in real life, they don’t have to worry about whether or not someone will go to the next store over, because out of convenience they will stay in that store. When you are shopping online however, it’s a whole different story. If you suddenly decide you don’t like the price at that store, you can just go to the next store over. For this reason, stores are constantly having an advertising battle to see who is better at their craft. One store might offer a discount on a product, and then the next store over will do it’s best to match that offer. This is the reason you will see “Online Only Discounts” for different products, especially for electrical such as mobile phones. There are some instances where you will see mobile phones for as low as ten pounds, which is amazing when you consider that they are usually sixty dollars and up.

There are many other instances of great online sales to be discovered, but the bottom line is that you should really give significant thought to getting online for your Christmas gifts this year. Not only will this save you money, it will save you an incredible amount of time. You will have more opportunities to sit at home with your family for the holidays rather than dealing with the madness of a shopping centre. As you can see, shopping online is a great alternative that should be considered by anyone. Check out your online stores and see what you can find!

With many Americans now facing greater financial challenges than they were a year ago, the upcoming holiday season may leave us with more feelings of dread than excitement.   After all, the holidays are an expensive time of year.   There are gifts to purchase, meals to prepare, and family members to host and entertain.   In spite of all this, it is still possible to have a wonderful holiday season while sticking to a budget.   We’ll explain how by breaking things down into the five main areas where our holiday dollars are spent. Gifts:Christmas gift shopping often takes up the largest part of a family’s holiday budget.   If you want to save money on gifts, planning is key.   First, create a budget, outlining how much you have to spend and what you want to buy for each person.   Next, watch the sale ads in your local newspaper and check prices online.   Don’t forget to keep an eye out for discount coupons or rebate offers that can also add up to additional savings.

Buying online is also a good way to save gas money and valuable time, and it can cut down on impulse purchases, too, since you won’t be at a mall, tempted by lots of other things you don’t need.   Another great money-saving idea is to make homemade gifts for everyone.   If you aren’t very crafty, remember that your time is also a very valuable gift.   Coupon books for services like babysitting, handyman repairs, or yard work are also well received and appreciated. Food:There are many ways you can save money on food at the holidays.   If you are hosting a large dinner, consider making it a potluck where each person contributes a dish to the meal.   This allows everyone to share in the cost and also creates a varied meal where many families’ specialties can be sampled.   Another way you can save money on large family meals is by breaking tradition.   Perhaps everyone would enjoy chicken or pasta on Christmas Eve rather than ham or beef tenderloin.

Another alternative to an expensive dinner is to do a low-key brunch on Christmas morning after opening gifts.   This can be a refreshing change for family members who are traveling and need to get on the road early.   If traveling is in your plans, be sure to pack some healthy snacks and drinks for the car.   This will cut down on the expense of fast food at gas stations and restaurants. Entertainment:It’s usually easy to cut back on spending for entertainment, if you simply take advantage of free family activities.   For example, take your children to see Santa Claus at the mall, or if you don’t have kids, go watch other children tell Santa what they want for Christmas.

If you live in a cold weather climate, participate in outdoor activities like sledding at the park, ice skating on a frozen pond, or building a snowman in the backyard.   Instead of going to the movies, just watch some holiday programs that are broadcast on television during the month of December, or better yet, attend a free holiday play or concert at your local church, community center, or school. Decorations:The best way to save money on holiday decorations is by making do with what you already have.   If you simply must buy some different items, consider buying used decorations from garage sales, auctions, or online sites like Craigslist.   If you can make yourself wait until after Christmas, stock up for the following year by taking advantage of post-Christmas sales.

On December 26 and after, most holiday items can be bought for half or a quarter of the original price. Contributions:Even on the sparsest budget, it is still possible to give back to the community at the holidays.   Many charities and organizations value your time even more than a monetary contribution.   Consider donating some gently used clothing or other items to a homeless shelter, or volunteering your time to serve dinner at a soup kitchen.   Other options might include answering phones at a call center or ringing a bell to solicit donations at a local grocery store or mall.   These are all great ways to give back without dipping into your bank account. With all of these suggestions, we hope you’ll realize that it’s not impossible to stick to a budget at the holidays.   With a little careful planning and a few minor changes in your activities, you will hopefully find yourself at the end of the season with plenty of good memories, a warm feeling in your heart, and some money left in your pocket.

Christmas On A Budget Christmas is a time fun, family and friends and it is the one time out of the whole year that we go crazy on gifts for our entire family and all of our friends. For many of us, we are living on a budget and do not have the money to spend so we max out all of our credit cards and spend the next year paying them off. Although the economy is by no means great and jobs are hard to come by, it is obvious that everyone wants to give their children a wonderful Christmas.   Christmas comes once a year and for a lot of us its probably one of the few times that we have all or most of are family together to enjoy each others company. We watch our children wake up the earliest they have woken up all year long, so they can tear open the presents that Santa left for them. The feelings of happiness and love overwhelm us and no matter how old you are, opening presents is exciting and will never get old. We watch our children with excitement as the open every single present they can find with their names written on the package and when their done they crawl under the tree making sure we have not missed any and sometimes we drift off to when we were their age and felt the way they do at this moment. That feeling alone is one of the best feelings an innocent, pure hearted  child can have and that is why we feel it is our obligation to give them the best Christmas possible.

For all of us who want to enjoy the holidays and have to have Christmas on a budget, now you can, and a good one at that! I have taken the best places and products on the web and put them all together just for you so you don’t have to spend hours out of your busy schedule to go to the packed malls or search the web only to find nothing at all what you are looking for. I have spent the last few months researching and finding the best, most trustworthy places as well as great prices for the people that have to have Christmas on a budget but not want to look like it.   It doesn’t matter if you are looking for name brand perfumes or electronics you will find it here and with sites like Amazon, you can relax and not worry about feeling like you have been robbed. They have a 100% satisfaction guaranteed moto and if you are not completely happy (which you will be) you can return or exchange it. Come see what all the hype is about and get your shopping done with out hours of waiting in store lines and with out spending your entire savings. Happy Holidays! ————->Lets Go Shopping Now<————-

Many entrepreneurs, small and private businesses, and individual affiliates, hire freelance writers for SEO writing (also known as “search engine optimization” writing). SEO writing involves writing keyword-rich articles to rank the client’s website higher in search engines and generate more website traffic. SEO articles are less informative and less entertaining than articles you would write for magazines. If you want to see examples of SEO articles, browse through any of the online article distribution directories. You will notice many of the SEO articles range in length between 500 and 700 words and paragraphs often repeat with selected keywords. My friend, Peter Callahan, likes to write sports-related material for the Internet. Many writers, like Peter, write material to inform, entertain and educate readers. Some writers understand clients hire them to write web content for web pages (SEO writing) to ensure higher search engine placement. In many cases, these writers still provide quality-written work for SEO.

However, if a client requests the writer to provide keyword-stuffed articles with a certain (keyword) density, then the writer is at the mercy of the client. Crafting keyword-stuffed sentences into a well-written article is hard. Still, both article types – magazine-quality articles and SEO articles – pay the bills. If you become a freelance writer who can swing to one type and then back to the next, then you will receive steady paychecks. The commodity you need will be time. Here are a few things you should know if you decide to write magazine-quality articles or SEO content for websites: 1. Web content will likely range from 100-1000 words depending on what your client wants. 2. It will either be keyword-enriched or informative. Ask your client what his goals are and what he wants to accomplish with his articles. 3. Topics will range around keywords in most cases. 4. If quantity is worth more than quality to your client, then make sure you protect yourself. Don’t use your name. Use a pen name. There’s nothing worse than to ghostwrite a lot of keyword-stuffed articles aimed at search engines, and then to hit a major book deal and find your client had (accidentally) attached your byline to those non-informative, (almost) meaningless keyword-stuffed articles. Publishers will frown on this. 5.

Topics for web content are wide-ranging. WRITING SEO ARTICLES Writers who write SEO content are in high demand. These writers often have 20+ jobs waiting in line for them at a time because clients will wait on them to do the job right. SEO writing is an excellent way to break into freelance writing but it will not make you a recognized writer. Most of what you will write will be from the technical angle of search engine optimization. A client in search of SEO material will submit a list of keywords focused on a specific term or category. The writer uses these keywords and writes keyword-stuffed articles using variations of these keywords Usually clients who want SEO writing will request a certain number of words per article. If a client hires you to write a large batch of articles, you will want to range the lengths from 150 words to 1000 words. From my experience, SEO articles shouldn’t go beyond 525 words. Writing SEO content is a wonderful way to make some great money but it won’t do anything great for you as a writer. In fact, SEO article writing can often hinder your talents if you stay with it long enough because it simply isn’t the best work out there to help you prove yourself as a freelance writer. If you decide to write keyword-stuffed articles, you’ll need to know more than just the topic.

You’ll need to write articles using specific keywords to help your clients rank higher on search engines, most specifically, Google. com. By doing this more people will see your client’s website and go to the site more frequently. As an SEO writer, you will need to know the rules for density rates and so forth. This can be done by doing a search on “keyword density checkers” or “free keyword density checkers. ” Find one that is user friendly. Run your articles through these density checkers to determine their keyword density. Clients will want to see articles with varying density. To ensure the best possible articles for SEO content, always use various keywords. With the Internet adding more and more web pages, you can make a lot of money in web content. However, just because you are a talented writer doesn’t mean you will pick up the knack for writing SEO articles successfully. You will need to research SEO writing thoroughly to do it correctly. Affiliates often hire writers to write content for their websites. If you want to break into writing for the web, you must know the ins and outs of writing SEO content. We aren’t going to visit those concepts here because you can find many books on the subject. You can also visit many free websites that teach you how to write for search engines. Here are some tips to write effective SEO content: TIP # 1: The keyword or keyword phrase should always be in the first line of every paragraph. TIP # 2: If you are doing keyword articles as a ghostwriter, make sure you have a contract with your client stating he will not use your byline.

You don’t want magazine editors or loyal readers to recognize you for writing non-informative keyword-stuffed articles. At the same time, SEO writing is a necessary skill if you want to make a lot of money in writing web content. TIP # 3: Use Google’s keyword tool to see what keywords connect with other keywords or phrases. You can take Google’s keyword suggestions and use them in your article so your client’s website will rank higher in search engines. Google’s tool enables you to capture some of the keywords associated with a phrase, as requested by the client. If you learn to research which words can pull the most “hits” on the search engines, you’ll become more valuable to your client. TIP # 4: Take the keyword phrase and use it in several variations. TIP # 5: When a client hires you to write web content, ask what the client’s goals are because he may want SEO articles, or he may want informative, well-written articles, or he may want both. FINDING SEO WRITING GIGS 1) Most clients who need SEO writers post their needs on Elance.com, Guru.com and GetAFreelancer.com, and let writers bid for the projects. Clients will tell you how many articles they require; the word length; the topics; keywords; and sometimes the keyword-density. 2) SEO has become an enormously popular type of writing and the demand is huge. Because of the huge demand, we now have many established SEO writing companies, instead of individual freelancers, that provide these same services. These SEO writing companies always recruit outside freelance writers.

If you want to write SEO copy and don’t want to bid on SEO projects, then do a search on Google for SEO writing companies and contact the persons in charge for a freelance position. 3) Search Google News for press releases announcing new websites. Visit these new websites and contact the person in charge. These new websites always need SEO writing. 4) Search through the Elance Service Providers at Elance. com and contact freelance graphic designers and see if you can pair up your skills with theirs. 5) Search the search engines, jobbanks, such as FreelanceWriting. com, and advertise your skills as an SEO writer on your own website.
